SABO AND KAYODE MARKETS SHUT………..For non compliance to environmental sanitation exercise.
Jul 29th, 2012 | By Akinlade Dada | Category: Lead Story, NEWS, SANITATIONThe Executive chairman, Yaba LCDA, Hon AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh has ordered the immediate closure of Sabo and Kayode markets in Yaba LCDA. The chairman, who monitored the monthly environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday 28th July, 2012 was bitter at the deteriorating condition of the environment of the two markets.
The drainages inside Sabo Market were in a mess and the environment littered with refuses while wares were displayed indiscriminately around the premises. Most of the shops have been turned to place of abode for the sellers. As at the time of getting into the market, butchers were busy slaughtering rams while some are busy sleeping instead of cleaning and tidying up the market environment.
The story was the same at kayode Market, Abule Ijesha as most of the stalls have been converted to a permanent place of abode by the sellers. Shanties were seen at strategic locations in the market and the whole environment was in a mess.
Similarly, the chairman frowned at the indiscriminate parking on Moleye Street, Yaba. He called on the residents to maintain one side of the road for parking in order to give way for free movement of vehicles in and out of the Street. He ordered the caterer that littered the street with ice mineral boxes, chairs and tables to pack them away. ‘’People should not turn the street into rental corners where they display their rental materials’’. He said
