YABA LENS……….April Monthly Environmental Exercise.

The Executive Chairman Hon. AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh and members of his cabinet were at Alara Street to observe this month environmental sanitation exercise.

The chairman who was also in company of the leader of the council, Hon Bola Linda John and other councillors was not happy at the disgusting nature of the entry point of Alara street by commercial Avenue as  huge of refuse, abandoned vehicles and shanties were at  both sides of the road.

The chairman ordered the immediate removal of all the abandoned vehicles and instructed the Yaba LCDA Environmental Corps to ensure that nobody sells on the road side again as from Monday. He also warned that vehicles should be packed on one lane and not indiscriminately as he observed on the road.

The chairman also frowned at the illegal structures erected on the culvert along Lancaster Street and ordered that they be pulled down as they constitute environmental nuisance in the Street. The blocked drainage in front of Queens College was cleared to allow for free flow of water as we approach rainy period.

Some arrests were made of people that turned abandoned vehicles their place of abode and those that moved around during the exercise. The Permanent Secretary in one of the Ministries in Alausa, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose Martins was also around with the Chairman.

  4. Mr chairman sir, kudos for your efforts to ensure a clean environment. You will never tired by Gods grace.
Sir, i observe during the last sanitation exercise most of your councilors follow you during the exercise which is not suppose to be. The reason for councilors in our ward is to advocate for clean environment. They should serve as an example in the wards to sanitise their areas. So, come sanitation exercise this month all of them should go to their wards to show an examplary lifestyle. Even, environmetal corps should follow each of them with truck to carry the santies. While you sir, Hon. JJ wil monitor them in each wards!
Thats what we citizens want not the follow follow stuff when their wards are dirty. All these will create values and assist the chairman to better actualise the policy plan on environment and health. Thanks!
