YABA LCDA ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENDERS STORM SABO MARKET AREA.
The Yaba LCDA environmental defender corps sprang into action as they stormed Sabo Market on the morning of Tuesday 16th April to clear all illegal road side traders that constituted environmental nuisance to the pedestrians.
The exercise which began at about 10.10am was led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh. He was furious at the traffic bottleneck along the Oyadiran Estate end of the Commercial Avenue caused by the activities of road side traders and illegal packing on both sides of the road despite the activities of Lagos State Government to make our environment more friendly and conducive for people to live.
He ordered the removal of all double parked vehicles on the road to ease the traffic bottleneck. He also ordered the dismantling of all illegal kiosks, umbrellas and stands used for trading activities along the road. He warned them to desist as the exercise would be a continuous one.
Also at Jibowu, vehicles of those operating driving schools along the road were impounded for constituting environmental nuisance.
The chairman used the opportunity to visit the premises of Lagos City College to assess the collapsed wall of the School. Although the administration, equipping and maintenance of Secondary Schools is within the purview of the State Government, he promised the school management that in the next few days, the collapsed fence would be reconstructed.
