At the time Hon. Abdul Raheem Olajide Jimoh came into power in 2008, the state of things in Yaba Local council left a lot to be desired. The council secretariat was in shambles and the infrastructural development was neglected. There was a deep feeling of disenchantment among the people and there was yearning for positive change.

Immediately he assumed office, Jide Jimoh set all machineries in motion to reverse the rot and to set the once reversed elite community on its way of regaining its pride of place. His mission was to restore Yaba back to its golden era when it was an elite settlement and the hub of social, political and economic activities with national implications. That was why the administration first Budget proposal for the year 2009 was tagged the Budget of Restorations.

The administration was determined to be active with the Lagos state government in the Lagos Mega city project. However, one of the major challenges faced by the administration was inadequate revenue to achieve his ambitious goals. But with determination, the Jide Jimoh led administration set out to employ all legal means within its reach to unearth unexplored source of revenue. The administration redesigned its revenue contracts, making them more effective and more profitable. Consequently, the revenue base of the council was greatly improved and the government was able to forge ahead.

More so, another giant step taken by the administration was to put in place a think tank committee made up of people who witnessed the golden era of Yaba and who have made their own marks in their chosen professions. The committee is known as Yaba community advancement council. It has Mr. Michael Murray-Bruce as Chairman and notable individuals as Chief (Mrs) Eniola Fadayomi and Professor Adetokunbo Sofoluwe, the vice-chancellor, University of Lagos among others as members.

The advice and suggestions of the committee have been valuable to the achievements and success of the administration so far. Today Hon. Jide Jimoh, an accomplished administrator who during his first tenure as the executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA brought about changes and development to Yaba is saying that The transformation continues. Yaba today is a place to be and live.
