While his contemporaries in other Local Government Councils and Council Development Areas are busy strategising and preparing for the coming council election, Hon. AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh presided over the Inauguration of the Community Development Committee and Community Development Association Executives of Yaba LCDA on Friday 21st October, 2011. The inauguration which was the first of its kind was attended by community leaders, both CDC and CDA Executives, party leaders, members of the Executive and Legislative arms of the council, In-coming councillors, representatives of National Council for Women Societies, the Iya loja and Baba loja General of Yaba LCDA and members of the community.
In his speech, the Chairman congratulated the newly elected executives. He said CDC and CDA served as the link between the grassroots government and the community hence both are to be responsive to the people and also in their advisory roles to the government. A responsible CDC and CDA executive must be active and sensitive to what happens in its immediate environment. They are to be watchful and be security conscious and report any criminal activities to the security operatives. He advised them to create a good working relationship with the Neighbourhood Watch in their areas as a way of reducing crime rate in the society and maintain harmony and peaceful co- existence.
After the words of exhortation from the Executive Chairman, members of the newly elected Community Development Committee took their oath of allegiance and they were there after inaugurated. A certificate of inauguration was then presented to each of the twenty five (25) CDAs in Yaba LCDA.
In his response, Apostle Ojo, the CDC chairman commended the executive chairman for the recognition he accorded the executive through his open door policy. He praised the chairman for the laudable projects executed that brought transformation to Yaba and placed it on the pedestal of glory.
