The Onikan Stadium at the nerve centre of Lagos Island was filled to capacity on Wednesday 12^th October, 2011 as Political big wigs in the ruling Action congress of Nigeria and the party faithful from all Local Government and Local council development areas gathered to witness the flag off of 2011 local government election campaign. They all came in different attires that signified their solidarity for the chairmanship candidates from their respective areas. Songs of different tunes and melody were rendered to demonstrate their utmost solidarity and supports. The occasion was used to present all the 57 ACN chairmanship candidates for the local government elections.

In his speech, the Lagos state governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola thanked members for their dedication and total commitment to the party especially during the last general election. He urged members to ensure that all the party flag bearers for the position of Local Government chairmen were voted into power in the coming Local Government elections.

The Jaggar-Ban Borgu of Bornu kingdom, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu while addressing the party supporters said that the PDP led Government had failed the nation. He called on all the supporters to vote massively for Action Congress of Nigeria in the coming election. He praised Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola for being a good ambassador of the party. He affirmed his total support for his government in ensuring continuous and sustainable development and growth in Lagos State. He urged the Governor to go ahead and rehabilitate some federal roads that are in deplorable conditions especially the Oshodi-Apapa express Road and the Airport Road. He assured him of his total support and backing.

 At the flag off  were the Party Chairman in Lagos state, Otunba Henry Oladele Ajomale and members of his cabinet, Pa Alhaji Sunmola, The State Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, Mrs Ajoke Orelope Adefulure, deputy Governor, Leaders from all senatorial districts, all the party candidates in the coming election and party supporters in Lagos state.

Another highlight of the occasion was the official deflection of the members of All Nigerian Peoples Party, Lagos State chapter to the ACN. The group was led by the chairman of ANPP, Lagos state, Hon. Abiodun Oyebolu. In his speech, Hon. Oyebolu hailed the CAN national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making the Party the best in the country. He pledged the loyalty of the supporters to their new Party.
