On the assumption of office by the administration of Hon. Abdul-Raheem Olajide Jimoh, a lot of challenges and problems to be tackled both internally and externally at Yaba Local council Development Area were awaiting. Internally, the state of infrastructural facilities in the secretariat were at deplorable conditions; dilapidated walls, broken windows and furniture, outdated office equipments, shelves, heaps of used papers and document were displayed in offices. Non functioning generating set added to the acute and perennial power shortage experienced by the staffers. The environment was not conducive for staff to work as many were hardly committed to duty thus affecting the expected productivity of the entire work force. The entire council secretariat looked deserted with staff morale down.
As the proverbial adage says ‘’Charity begins at Home’’. The Administration in his quest to bringing about improved working condition by creating enabling and conducive environment for workers to work sprung into actions by embarking on the renovation of office blocks, procurement of furniture and equipments, office machines and restoration of power to the council, payment of back log of electricity bills and repair of the council generator. The effect of the action of the administration in addressing the above problems led to a landmark achievement in the productivity of the entire work force in adduce to by the sporadic increase in the revenue base of the council. Also, in maintaining a cleaning environment, heap of refuse that form High Mountain within the premises was removed and Public toilet constructed to serve the general public that pays visit to the council secretariat.

Externally, the administration was committed to the fulfilment of her electioneering promises of delivering dividend of democracy to the teeming populace of Yaba and its environs;and so began as a matter of urgency implementation of programmes in fulfilment of the promises made to the electorate. As it is known, Yaba is a major link to other parts of the state and in its effort to complement the good work of the governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), governor of Lagos state, Hon. Jide Jimoh administration embarked on the massive road construction and rehabilitations. Most of these roads which serve as link to other areas are in deplorable state with potholes and even shanties, some of these roads because of their deplorable conditions had been abandoned. Apart from making them motorable, they also enhance quick delivery of goods and services thereby improving the standard of living of the people.

Hon. Abdul-Raheem Olajide Jimoh did not stop on road construction and rehabilitations, he was much concerned about maintaining healthy and balance market environment in line with the policy of Lagos State Government of turning Lagos into a mega city, hence the Administration with the approval and support of Nigeria Railway Authority then decided to turn the disorganised shanty stalls and tattered umbrellas at the Yaba Market area into more modern key clamps for the use of traders. The market which was constructed during the first year of his administration was named Alhaja Abibatu Mogagi stall, in honour of that great woman of substance. Traders now engage in their business activities without obstructing the free flow of traffic, harassment from environmental law officers and putting an end to the menace of hawking and street trading in Yaba.
