Again…… Yaba Goes To School
It was a gathering largely of Students,teachers and people connected with the development of Education as the Executive Chairman Yaba LCDA,Hon. Olajide Jimoh, concluded to the delight of invited guests a novel educational program embarked upon by his virile administration since the second quarter of last year.
Aptly tagged,Yaba Goes To School, the first phase of the program was characterized with the distribution of customized School bags given to each and every pupil of all the thirty three public Primary Schools in Yaba LCDA.
The enigmatic Chairman,Hon. Jide Jimoh in staying truth to his avowed commitment of moving education forward,has taken in the past some giant strides aimed at improving the fortunes of education in Yaba commissioned some laudable projects. Among such is the distribution of well equipped First Aid Boxes,which is a first of its kind in Lagos State.
In the same vein,Yaba LCDA has proactively tackled some other problems militating against the impactaction of good tutorials especially in the area of providing sustainable infrastructure that will drive good deliveries of qualitative education in Primary Schools across the Local Government.
In the past couple of months ,Yaba has renovated to the delight of parents and teachers alike infrastructure in Public Primary School.
To cushion the effects of funding education on parents,the responsive Chairman of Yaba has embarked on some interventionist program such as the distribution of exercise books.
In his speech at the second phase of the distribution exercise which was held at the open ground of the councils secretariat on Thursday the 18th day of march,2010, the Chairman remarked that education is the bedrock of the human society through which the ideals,norms and beliefs of a people are transmitted to succeeding generations for the propagation of the human society.
Furthermore, the Chairman informed guests present that within the last fifteen months of his administration, Yaba LCDA,has transformed the public primary schools within his administration.
Some of these achievements according to the performing Chairman includes sinking of independently
powered boreholes to all public primary schools in Yaba.
In addition to boreholes, he said infrastructural development which includes classrooms,perimeter fencing,,gates and gatehouses and libraries have also be constructed.
While concluding his speech, the Chairman reiterated that, his Government appreciates the problem parents face in sending their wards to school and the gesture of given free exercise books and customized school bags is to help ameliorate the pains.The Chairman informed teachers present that his doors are open to listen to their plights and that his administration shall do all within the resources available to improve their lots.
